Telegram channel analytics: how to measure engagement and growth
Without analytics you don't know what works. Here are the key metrics for a Telegram channel and the tools to measure them.
The 5 metrics that actually matter
- Net subscribers (+/-): difference between new and lost subscribers over the last 7/30 days
- Engagement Rate (ER): average views ÷ total subscribers. Below 20% = problem. Above 60% = excellent
- Views per post: absolute and relative to peak
- Reactions and comments: qualitative interest indicators
- Click-through rate on inline links/buttons
Tools for Telegram analytics
- Native Telegram: Channel → Statistics (requires ≥50 subscribers). Shows basic graphs
- Telepilot: unified dashboard with ER, +/- subscribers, views per post across all your channels
- Telemetr: for third-party public channel analytics (competitor research)
How to improve ER
- Post during peak hours of your audience (usually 7-10 PM)
- Use mediagroups instead of single photos: +30% views on average
- Limit to 2-4 posts/day: too much = unsubscribes
- Add clear call-to-actions (react, click, share)
- Experiment with inline buttons
